Solar Power -Transparent Photovoltaic Cells : Windows can one day be solar panels

Solar Power in the future

One day, our windows can become solar panels. Modern days technologies have gone one step further with photovoltaic cells. Together, with our solar power and wind power technologies, the quest for alternative energies is not only becoming a dream of the past but has evolved into a reality of life.

Could you imagine photovoltaic cells being transparent, and that is exactly the topic today because researchers and scientists have developed a transparent solar cell. These sunlight collecting solar cells in their transparent state can be put together to form a structured solar panel; and if proven successful ultimately in the commercial sector, then they could be quite viable in the housing industries in that our windows will turn into sunlight collecting solar panels which in turns generate electricity for domestic consumption. Your imagination can even go wilder in considering the use of an electric car because the recharging of it will be totally powered by these transparent photovoltaic cells, if not the futuristic window-like solar panels.

Dr. Richard Lunt at the Massachusetts Institue of  Technology confirms the prototype cell from the M.I.T. Research Laboratory of Electronics that its efficiency is yet to be improved before being commercialized.

In the very near future of solar power, the transparent photovoltaic cell will eventually proven viable, and only then will our needs for renewable and sustainable resource be resolved; Dr. Lunt will begin teaching at M.I.T. this fall.

This might happen much sooner! Windows are an integral part of any home and to utilize them this way is a great idea. It will be simpler to build new homes with solar panel window panes.

We have just began our endeavors and found your site very helpful.

Seems the easiest way to make extra money in the present economy is to hold onto more of what you have already earned. Solar energy has been one of these methods to cut cost.

Our 11 year old daughter got us interested in the whole “green energy ” thing.

After several class projects and now coupled with the information we have found here and other sites, we are definitely rockin and rollin.

Thanks for sharing your resources with us!

    Blessings!
