What is the maximum consumption for an avarage laptop?

Question by Dahlia: What is the maximum consumption for an avarage laptop?
I am doing a work, where i simulate a house for a solar/wind power system, and need to calculate the average consumption for a day. The house will be a small bed and breakfast, so I am taking in consideration what items can people use. How much would the maximum consumption for an average laptop?

    Depends upon the power wattage of the laptop adaptor Typically it is 65Watts for normal laptop or 90Watts for gaming laptop. While charging and operating it runs on peak power upto 90% of adaptor. While only charging not running laptop it draws upto 20 to 50% on basis of charge level. And if battery is fully charged and operating the laptop it draws 10 to 60% on basis of application running.

    Desktops without graphics card will be 150W minimum ,and Desktops with graphics cards will be around 250-350W minimum.
    The CPU alone draws 17-40W,and the motherboard and graphics card should take up most of the rest.
    A netbook however will only draw around 50W.It is not much more efficient because of the chipset flaw in the intel atoms.However it will only rise maximum of 5 watts when in full load,whereas the standard laptops can draw up to 100W(basic i3 laptop) at full load especially if the laptop is hot.

    ideally if you use laptop for 10 hours you will burn abount 1 KW ..
    But if you are worried about power , There are standable solar chargers which cost around $ 120 , Its like box you drop in sun light and it will be charged than you can plug your laptop with this portable charger . Quite cheaper option

    However caring your laptop and keep it clean etc will lower its energy requirement , for example if laptop overheats your fan need to work harder to cool it down which requires more energy
