Installing Solar AC And DC Power In My RV Converter Box

I spent the whole day working on the RV electrical boxes and installing solar AC and DC power to the RV. The battery box that TJ and I made will have the power inverter sitting on top of it…

    SUGGESTION:::
TAKE A MAGIC MARKER AND WRITE ONE ALL YOUR LARGE CABLES AS TO WHAT THEY ARE
FOR AND IF THEY ARE POS OR NEG…..

    SUGGESTION:::
MIGHT WANT TO PUT A SPRING LOADED FLAP/LID/SLIDER TO COVER YOUR FAN HOUSING
WHEN YOU ARE ON THE MOVE… BECAUSE OF THE FILTH THAT WILL COME UP OFF THE
    ROAD….

question… if you are off grid how are you getting internet? Sat or
    through a mobile telephony carrier?

Why did this pop up?? what did i miss with my shitty &@#(# internet.

  5. GreenDesertCamper says:

Troy, don’t let these guys get to you! there just jealous they can’t create
    there own shows.

  6. Rob Smillie says:

Hey Troy, dont justify yourself to these ppl man, keep doing what your
doing, make what ever choices are best for you, not everyone else. TJ is a
big boy, and im sure he knows what he is getting into, so its between you
    and him!

  7. GreenDesertCamper says:

A “budget” is what you pay rent with. Troy can place an add and sell his
camper any day of the week. Would you just give your car away to the
    homeless at no charge?

  8. GreenDesertCamper says:

Troy is helping T.J. with money, that’s what I remember hearing from the
weekly radio show. I’d give the poor guy a break, he’s leaving tomorrow!

  9. Neil Shubert says:

I also wonder if the inverter should be somewhere else, but the wires need
to be short. Its a tough call. Where are you planning on putting the charge
controller? You mentioned an A/B switch, you do have a turtle switch on the
drivers side wall, controlling batteries, those are great. What shape is
the on board generator in? Those jumpers on the batteries are sweet, do you
have a name pr part number of them, I need to buy some. you can turn off
your ventilation fans at night or use solar panel

  10. CrazyPainter1000 says:

You are correct in we don’t know everything, however if you look at all the
videos in the archive, and are paying attn, you can easily figure out what
is going on. Troy has been given items, his rent is paid for not by him,
others have donated time, and labor. He is clearly willing to accept all of
this to better his living arrangement. The point was the “Actions of a man”
tells the story. Troy makes allot of claims to show, teach us how to do
this on a budget, who’s budget is my question.

@Seeds, If you know not the mind of a man, then you don’t know what he i
thinking, Thus you have no clue what I was going to do with the camper. I
made an offer for $500 bare bones with his LEDs taken out and orignal
lights put back in. stove and frig would stay. I also made a 1K offer with
batteries and solar. heat not a problem. I don’t have to also fund the DYI
project so all my money could go right into it. I have a strange Idea for
heat. But at last “We’ll Talk about it later” end

  12. Terry Teague says:

Another thing I’m curious about is whether TJ gets to read any of the
    comments here?

  13. skink35620 says:

I love it with a passion. Helps so much.

  14. CrazyPainter1000 says:

If you are going to sell your wood stove, what are you planning on using
for heat? If you are planning on relying solely on solar / batteries that
is a mistake. Solar relies on the sun, in winter being over cast and the
sun usually weak your not going to be able to keep the batteries at peak
charge and put a large load on them. Living as you are you need plan A, B,
and C if something were to fail. Otherwise you are going to have allot of
    cold nights.

  15. Prim n' Prepper says:

He could just cut the second panel a little shorter to clear the inverter
and still use the piano hinge. He would only be loosing a few inches. That
    is what I would do.

  16. The Do It Yourself World says:

I am talking to him. He would not be buying the camper, I cannot do that to
anyone. But rather the wood stove, some solar panels, water supply and all
the other extras that go with a nice home off the grid. Please dont judge
publicly before asking me. Look at all the thumbs up you got.

  17. David Hansen says:

he is helping me with money? He bought sodas and some food for me and was
paid back for it this morning. Anyone else starting to smell something in
    here besides me?

  18. Paul Troiani says:

I go back to work and the bottom falls out and the wheels fly off… Why
all of this negativity and questioning of the project? Honestly , you don’t
have to watch… So why be the fly in the ointment ?

  19. Oldtimer Lee says:

Just adding 2 cents to what others have said. Have corded drills with 1/2″,
3/8″, & 1/4″ chucks. If 120vac available, prefer corded drills. Often
easier to get into tight spaces where a drill with battery pack won’t go.
Larger the bit, the more demand on power source. Have drills with battery
packs, as well. By comparison, 120 will do what what the others won’t in
tough situations. Plug into a power strip, one with a pilot bit & 1 with a
screw driver bit. Can’t take a break for recharge. 🙁

  20. David Hansen says:

offering to help me out…have to catch up on all the videos. LOL as for a
bio.,..what you see is what you get. I am a funny old fart that wants to
    learn about off grid living.

  21. The Do It Yourself World says:

Oh, and what would you pay for a fully off the grid home? Fully loaded with
everything you need. Everything. He offered me, by the way. I did not ask
him. And I turned him down at first but he is asking again.

  22. Prim n' Prepper says:

Easy about the Grandmothers. I am one but I don’t make videos so I’m good.
But you are right. You watch another channel and you are right back here.
And everyone writing all of these negative comments – You are here too, and
most of you are here reading or writing these nasty comments while you are
patiently waiting for the lastest video- admit it You are hooked. So, if
you can’t say anything nice, then don’t comment at all !! That would give
Troy extra time to make more videos.

  23. GreenDesertCamper says:

Troy, could you give me your address info also

  24. MrRantek24 says:

Hey Troy. Those nice copper terminals you smashed on would hold up better
if they were soldered. A wise man once told me, when you “smash” / “crimp”
on terminals, they will corrode there. I was taught to cut up pieces of
solder and put them in the terminal like you have Then a little flux on the
wire, then using a propane torch, heat the terminal end until the solder
melted. Heat up the bare wire a little too, then put the wire into the
terminal. Looks good, and holds up great! Just a thought!

  25. GreenDesertCamper says:

Amen…. you said it! Nice to see nice people for a change.

  26. Masterr Laster says:

kinda hard to get it out with a soldering iron hot air would be easier also
the jack may not even need to be replaced( depending on how bad it is) I
patched mine and it’s been working for about 2 years.

  27. 1234gare1 says:

I cant unsolder my laptop charger port my solder pin is hot enough and the
    solder wont melt

  28. Tech4You says:

that thing what you do on 12:50 its wrong, you know what i mean.
if a person its seeing that thing you to and try to replicate it will brake
the TRACE from the V+ supply.

  29. Emmanuel Abijo says:

My power port doesn’t feel broken inside but just pushed back because I
dropped it. Is there a way for me to fix it without inserting a brand new
    one

  30. audionut86 says:

and is there a fix to this. ive tried pulling and i didnt want to pull at
it anymore incase i damage the board. im worried i may have damaged it.
