Last Call: One Month Until Proton OnSite Scholarship and Innovation Program Deadline

Science and technology students, innovators and entrepreneurs have until Feb. 15 to vie for a scholarship or business grant from the Proton OnSite Scholarship and Innovation Program. The newly restructured program from Proton OnSite, a global onsite gas generation leader, now features a hydrogen contest component and broader entry requirements. High school seniors, college students and adult innovators compete to receive either a $ 100,000 college scholarship or $ 50,000 to develop their idea via business venture.
“In the program’s past four years, we’ve recognized future science and technology leaders by awarding $ 100,000 college scholarships to 17 high school seniors,” says Tom Sullivan, founder of Lumber Liquidators, owner of Proton OnSite and benefactor of the Proton OnSite Scholarship and Innovation Program. “This year, we’re building on this legacy by challenging applicants – regardless of college enrollment status – to apply science and technology in a way that solves a real-world problem.”
Open to U.S. citizens, the program recognizes individuals who have the passion, drive, curiosity and DIY initiative to meet a real need using hydrogen power. The program asks applicants to find new and creative ways for generating and/or using hydrogen powered by renewable and sustainable energy sources such as sun or water. Applicants must submit the following by the program’s Feb. 15 deadline:
Program application (online and paper)
Three recommendations
Documentation verifying year of school (for students applying for the college scholarship)
A complete, detailed, hard-copy presentation document (20 pages or less) covering the concept, plan and development process for the idea, explaining how it would solve a real-world problem
A five- to 10-minute minute video presentation of the concept and/or prototype
Finalists are evaluated on the basis of the application’s strength; the ability, promise, presentation and thoroughness of the idea; and their demonstrated leadership, work ethic and community involvement. For more information or to apply, visit http://www.protononsitescholarship.com.
