My Solar Setup Harbor Freight Solar Kit

Here is what I have done as a start up to solar. I use it to charge batteries and to run some equipment. Not a bad little system. Thanks for watching. http://www.thereadystore.com/?aid=4d8ed2…

Good info. Dead on. Your doing fine! Yeah invest in an Mppt charge
controller to get the max charge as opposed to a PWM charge controller that
can sap some wheres 40% power/charging loss. <-- ouch!

  2. Billy Joe Mac Allister says:

As for the set up in a 12v your 220 amp hour batters as 6V are halved. 880
    at 6volts = 440 ah thats 50%. At 12volt its 440ah and half is 220 =( ( as a
12volt system your at 220 amp hours!)

  3. Stephen T says:

Them charge controllers are not charge controllers
they are voltage regulators. They would fry your batteries if you had more
    Soler panels.

Off topic we cut the ends and tops off carrots celery and cube up potato’s.
Why do we save what most people throw out? The plants are cloned in water
grow 300% faster then seed since the clone tops are all mature plants. You
can knock out a speedy growing garden in few short weeks. Food for thought
=) Also ripped out bushes that aren’t food producers and replace them with
edibles. Think we cut our food bill by 60% last year. Also leaves make
perfect compost. Add coffee grounds worms little water and flip it few
times monthly makes the best black gold and will feed all your plants
perfect. Plus people bag up leaves and do the work for you ( I like free! )
If you grind up the leaves with a mulcher it’ll speed up the process ten
    fold.

you are absolutely a prepper. anybody who has the common sense to prepare
for an emergency should not be embarrassed to be called a prepper. I’m a
prepper and i don’t think an asteroid is going to hit the earth so cut me
    some slack dummy.

I never heard of power companies cutting power to do maintenance. I am
using the actual charge controllers from HF.on full sun light with three
panels I can run a crock pot. I have the three charge controllers in
    parallel.

You have 440Ah at 12 volts and 880Ah at 6 volts, but your system is 12 volt
so you have a total of 440Ah and if you only use 50% then you only have
220Ah at 12 volts, hope this helps, don’t want you running out of power
    before you know it!

if your just looking for emergency power, you should buy a battery charger
    to keep batteries charged

I think you made a simple mistake in calculating your ah on your battery
bank. When you hookup battery’s in parallel you keep the same voltage but
double the capacity in amps. Then connecting battery’s in series you would
get double the voltage but the capacity would remain the same.so in the end
your battery set up is only 400ah and you should not exceed half of this.

Yeah , very loud is no good for the middle of the night. How well have the
    Costco batteries worked for you?

You’re right. I’m an oxygen patient also. I receive backup tanks…for
    power blackouts.

Thought about solar myself but went to an alternator setup. This maybe a
good idea for you to think about. I have 2 200 ah 12 volt deep cycle
batteries which are hooked up in parallel. Those are hooked to the Harbor
Freight 2000/4000 watt inverter. I am driving a 1/2 hp motor single phase
off the inverter. This in turn drives my 12 volt/110 amp alternator. I use
that to charge my batteries with an inline 40 amp fuse on it. This is my
basic setup. My goal is to run a space heater through the night on the
really cold nights.Hope this inspires you alittle.

great solar set up… thank you for sharing..

@garymule Son of a….., lol. Now I have to get two more batteries:)

  15. 19hawk11 says:

I have to get on this myself. I was thinking of using it with a 12 volt
    lighting for emergencies.

Nice set man that is the way to go solar.Mine is 3 60watts solar panel , 6
225ah batteries and a 5000watt inverter .my inverter got damage so i will
    have to get that fix.

  17. GaryMule says:

    Thanks for watching.

  18. GaryMule says:

Well go get it! Thanks for watching!

  19. mackuss says:

It’s car batteries tjat can’t go below 50% or they lose max charge. Who
said the HF hager controller isn’t really a controller?

  20. N22Tango says:

I have 8 MEP (military electric power) surplus generators, and 4 of these
solar kits. We have storms here that sometimes knock out power for days and
weeks. I’m using 12 volt golf cart batteries on my solar panels. They
    handle abuse better.

bullshit guy..! you’re a prepper! its okay dont deny it! lolol

Nees it get a pure sine worth the cost

    nice!

  24. TheEndeavoringFamily says:

I can’t wait to get something like this. I have the small eep portable
units for lights now. But,I would love to to way more.

  25. GaryMule says:

Hey thanks it is a nice little set.
