  9. TheTxcowdog says:

What brand of batteries are on the floor? They look like AGM and I notice the battery box has lead acid. Do you have any problems mixing the two technologies?

  10. KillerBeeKiller says:

    “…pretty exciting…”

Yeah I bet it would be.

  11. harley96cube says:

Nice clean shop and tools. God forbid my wife sees this video, as she’ll be nagging me to get my toolboxes cleaned up this nice. 🙂

  12. BuckeyePrepper says:

I love the solar, wind, and generator videos, but what made me laugh was the last few seconds…”I LOVE killin’ flies!” Great video!

  13. SurviveN2 says:

@stevehmi Nope, the Aluminum wires I’m talking about are the wires (feeders & branch circuits) in his breaker box. The Zinc coated wires he talked about are the cables he is using for his connection to the batteries and they are really good wires. I’ve made a set of 20′ car jumper cables out of that type of wire (only smaller) and they have lasted me 30yrs at least with no problems. They don’t get hot like some other cables can. Take Care :-))

  14. minbound says:

Is there a way to bring acid batteries back to life? Or are the plates done with build up? Thanks fo vid…

  24. waylonhartwell says:

do you not use that ups any more i don’t see it or does that grid tie inverter replace it . good vids thanks for the time and effort you put in to them you have tot me almost all that i know about solar power thanks you are a good person

  25. SurviveN2 says:

I know you know about electrical and I don’t mean anything by this but I noticed the feeders and I think a few lg branch circuits were what looked like Aluminum wire. I didn’t see any noncorrosive compound on the lugs in your panel box. If it’s Aluminum I hope I’m wrong and just couldn’t see it….LOL. If it’s not on there I hope you check the connections every yr to make sure their tight. All failures by Aluminum wire are caused by not being terminated properly. Take Care :-))

Alright, I know this is an older video, but it takes me a while to come up with a decent question that I am facing right now. In your video you said that you pieced your system together to make what you have now. My question is what piece would you start with so you wouldn’t need to upgrade? What is the most important piece to get right the first time? Me, I want emergency power but I don’t have the budget to complete the system right now, but I don’t want to wait either. Start now, and build.

  27. M3lxTG says:

Great video Kevin! But I have a question which I think didn’t watched. Why you changed one of yours Xantrex Modified wave inverters for the Outback one?. Regards from Domican Republic.

  28. Fr8Hauler1 says:

I’m just learning, and learning a great deal from your series. You mentioned A/C systems. I spoke w/ a gentleman in Florida that was using the Mitsubishi ductless on a warehouse that he owns. He says that the way they are designed, they will start and run off of solar alone. He says that they ramp up at a much slower rate, and are great for solar. I don’t know enough to comment.

  29. orlan7s1 says:

yea defenetly SUNELEC is the place to go thats where i got all my system. and i looked arownd everyware.hell of a sytem you got there. im wayting on my turbine wind max 1kw.should have it up next week

  30. unomas58 says:

Thanks a lot OBX for the information.Hope to be able to put a small scale system together, with the help of your videos and knowledge.

  31. MrJohn196741 says:

    good video

  32. OBXSOLWIND says:

@N8Dogg1002 Yes and No it depends on where you live and the rules of your power provider and local code inforcment. Most grid tie or grid interactive inverters have whats called “Island protection” wich means you cant backfeed the grid when the powers out. Good to here from you my Friend..I hope all is well..

  33. smilewait4flash says:

    Wow! Very nice.

  34. OBXSOLWIND says:

@03DexterHauler Pumping water is somthing that solar is best at. The pumps on the other had are a little pricey depending on how high you have to lift it.

  35. millster101 says:

Thank you for sharing your info, i am starting to get hooked, I just picked up a really basic solar panel kite from harbor freight. looking into getting batteries for it. I seen at cost co you can pick up golf cart batteries for 79 bucks, but that was a few months ago

  36. KillerBeeKiller says:

He was right the first time…watch them all.

  37. amusingisthedawn says:

If one was on a budget and wanted to purchase a system in pieces, what would you suggest to them as to a first item to buy? Maybe solar panels and run dead-ended wires to where the rest of it would go?

  38. mixed123456 says:

nice setup, i would like to know what kind of solar panel are those ? and how much is the electricity production. thanks in advance.

  39. EastCoastPrepper says:

Thanks brother for the vid. Man you have a lot of batteries…lol You are truly an inspiring person. I have learned so much from you and I am sure others have as well. A big THANK YOU for what you do and glad to have you as a friend…..

  40. TRAVERZULU3 says:

  42. paulus387 says:

what is the main things anyone has to worry about on a lead acid battery? i know sulfation, and internal short circuit is a couple. is there any others?

  43. drewstarr71 says:

    Thanks so much, great info!!

  44. OBXSOLWIND says:

@PrepperAZ SUNELEC. I think they also have a store in AZ

  45. indman101 says:

I have a grid tied setup useing Enphase inverters and sharp solar panels I will be installing on my garage roof real soon thanks to the videos on youtube I dont think I will be bill free but im sure it will lower my electric bill along with no property tax for a long time and get 30% back on my taxes next year,Enphase setup seems really simple its plug and play the bad part is if the grid goes down im in the dark so I still need a smaller 12 volt setup…great videos..

  46. SoCalPreppers says:

Great information , thanks for taking the time to go over this stuff, Im getting a solar itch….

  47. 03DexterHauler says:

Awesome set up! Thanks for posting this. (Had a thousands questions) You mentioned having to have a mega set up to run Air Conditioning. What about a well pump?

  49. BigRoach1962 says:

    THANKS

  50. PrepperAZ says:

It was difficult to hear where you buy your stuff from. Name of the company in florida was almost inaudible. Can you put the name of the company in the video notes? Thanks.
