Solar Impact Restores Gainesville Regional Airport To Its Solar Heritage
(PRWEB) August 23, 2011
Solar Impact has partnered with the Gainesville Regional.
Airport to design and install Phase I and II of the airport’s solar electric project. Firms from around the southeastern United States competed for the project. Phase I of the
project is nearing completion and calls for 35,000 watts of solar photovoltaic panels to be installed on the main terminal building. Phase II will begin shortly and will add 226,000watts. The airport is returning to its “solar heritage” as the main terminal building was originally designed for solar back in 1974.
Solar Impact, based in Gainesville, Florida, is one of the largest solar electric companies in Florida. Solar Impact’s primary mission is to “make solar affordable” so that
homeowners and business owners can harness the power of renewable energy in a way that makes good financial sense. They buy solar panels direct from the manufacturer, keeping their overhead low, and partner with licensed roofers and master electricians to ensure the highest quality solar installation. A licensed professional engineer designs every one of their solar photovoltaic systems. They provide a comprehensive solar financial analysis and
help clients obtain every solar incentive available.
Gainesville Regional Airport serves approximately 140,000 commercial passengers each year and an estimated 44 percent of these are visitors to the area whose spending helps to contribute to the airport’s economic impact.
