When I installed my photovoltaic solar system:
Had to get a permit from the city
Had to pay a fee.
Had to meet the Building Code
Had to prove ability of system to withstand 80 mile per hour wind
Had to comply with State Energy Commission rules to get rebate
Had to comply with Public Utillity Commission regulations for connecting to the grid
